Building work continues apace with the foundations going in!
A local construction firm, JDW won the tender and started work on site today. Further fundraising will continue to reduce the shortfall currently covered by an interest-free loan.
A week later, Almeley Wootton was again mentioned, this time in the letters when Hannah James, a member of the fundraising committee wrote to thank all of the individuals, Meetings and grant-making bodies for the other financial support offered to the project over the last few years.
A Quaker woman who celebrated her 90th birthday in a sponsored 12,000 feet charity skydive says ” I would do it all again “.
Maggie White wanted to raise funds for both the Quaker meeting house she attends at Almeley Wootton, and the older persons charity, Independent Age.
“It was tremendous and I wouldn’t have missed it for the world,” said the Pembridge resident. She said instructor Mike Browne, who took the parachute jump with her, was marvellous and took any worry away.
